The Nassau County Police Department reported that the crash happened in Elmont at about 4:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 2.
Police said a 71-year-old woman was driving a 2014 Honda CR-V north on Elmont Road near School Road when the Honda struck the man in the roadway.
The man suffered severe trauma and was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead. His identity has not yet been released.
NCPD said the driver remained at the scene.
The investigation is ongoing.
